About us

"Children relish the learning experiences on offer that superbly enhance their development. The whole visual environment is stimulating and the planned activities capture their natural curiosity as learners." (Ofsted 2017).

“The leadership of the nursery is inspirational. All staff are very knowledgeable with regard to protecting children from harm, and safeguarding and child protection training is mandatory. This ensures that all staff's knowledge is completely up to date and that they can fulfil the responsibilities in meeting the safeguarding and welfare requirements.” (Ofsted 2015).

Tic Toc Nursery is an independent family run business which was founded in 2002. Both Directors (Maureen Wedgewood and Claire Spencer) have an NHS background and have worked as health visitors in Coventry.

Tic Toc at Henley Road, Coventry originally opened on one site. Following the success of the nursery a second setting, Tic Toc 2 also at Henley Green, Coventry, was opened in October 2009. In 2015 Tic Toc 2 expanded and was able to offer more places for children eligible for 2, 3, & 4 year funding.

A wealth of support

At Tic Toc not only do we care for your child’s daily needs but we are able to provide additional support regarding health, nutrition, behaviour, sleep management, immunisations and general child development advice at any time. Parents have the opportunity of their baby being weighed on request which can be recorded in the ‘parent held record book.

The setting at Tic Toc 1 is for our younger children. This site had extensive refurbishment in 2010 which included improvements to the inside of the building and new garden facilities. All rooms have air conditioning. Tic Toc 2 is for our pre-school children and those eligible for funding, this has also undergone extensive improvement and an extended purpose built Ali-Baba play area. Both play-areas have canopy cover to protect against all weathers.

All staff work alongside parents who are recognised as the child’s primary educators and are respected and welcomed to offer any input to aid transition and development for your child whilst they are in our care. We offer many opportunities to involve parents as partners ranging from daily feedback, parents evenings, extensive ‘settling in’ sessions.

Security

Security is seen as a high priority at both settings, access is by the main door only which is secured throughout the day. Nominated staffs greet parents into the nursery and parents are not encouraged to open the door to other parents. Measures are in place throughout; from finger protectors on doors, robust policies on nominated people collecting children, photos of nominated contacts and up to date external CCTV. Safety is reinforced at every team meeting.

Opening times

Our core opening hours are 8.00 am to 5.30 pm; we are able to offer early and late care at a small additional cost. Tic Toc is open 51 weeks a year (only closing for the Christmas period and bank holidays). We accept children from six weeks of age, from one session a week to full time care all year round. The morning session includes breakfast (served until 8.30 am) a healthy snack and a main meal and dessert. The afternoon session includes an afternoon tea. All meals are freshly prepared by qualified cooks.

Our Nursery operates on a daily or sessional basis. Sessions run from 8.00am to 12.30pm and 1.00pm to 5.30pm, a full day is 8.00am – 5.30pm. If you require care outside our core hours or require shortened sessions please ask for details.

From September 2017 we will be offering the extended entitlement of childcare funding, eligible families could receive up to 30 hours of funded education over 38 weeks.

Keeping track of your child's development

At Tic Toc Nursery all children’s developmental observations are recorded on secure ‘I pads’, this saves time manually record keeping which enables staff to spend more time with the children. Parents receive regular copies of all observations and reports via e-mail and are able to respond to the information given.

We have recently purchased 5 large interactive panels for the children to enahnce their IT skills.

Something extra

At Tic Toc, a staff member is a person not only qualified in childcare but someone who is able to offer children and parents that little something extra. We employ staff with a wide range of experience. We believe all staff should be supported and have opportunity to develop their career, each member of staff has an individual training plan. Annual in-house training is provided on paediatric first aid and fire safety.

We offer external and in-house training opportunities to all of our staff in many different areas. All staff have relevant childcare qualifications ranging from NVQ2 to the Early Years Professional Status. We have staff who speak many different languages including French and Spanish. The children are offered a wide range of songs from different languages.
